November Vendor Spotlight: Gwendoline Le Cunff
Hello, my name is Gwendoline and I am an illustrator.
What inspired you to start a business? I have always loved posters associating lettering and illustration and started drawing some for myself. Feedback from people seeing them in my homemade me realize other people enjoyed them and gave me the push to make more and start my prints and greeting cards business!
What is your favorite thing that you make and why? Even though I am a terrible cook, I absolutely love to draw food! What I can’t make it in real life, I can instead make it live on paper ;)
Describe your creative process I keep a note in my phone (and multiple notebooks in real life) where I write down any idea that comes to mind, inspired by a book, a movie, a conversation, or random things around me. I leave it there, come back to it later, and I see what can come out of it. I also love to get ideas from random facts of the Wikipedia world.
What are your business goals for the future? I would love to try new mediums like embroidery or bookbinding.
What has influenced your style?
- Old cartoons (Fleischer Studios, Harman and Ising, Ub Iwerks, Fritz Frielang, Walt Disney…)
- Children’s books - Hand-lettered signs
What do you listen to when you work?
TV shows I already know by heart (like Futurama), lo-fi, or Bon Entendeur playlists.
What would your last meal be if you could choose it? A continental breakfast, including a latte, a croissant, and freshly pressed orange juice.
