I’m a small business owner from Brossard, Quebec who had a dream of owning a cosmetic company all my life! I wanted to create vegan and cruelty-free products to fit everyone’s desires! I love creating new products and watching my business grow as well as connecting with other businesses and supporting locals as much as I can.
Where do you see your business in 5 years? I see myself expanding to different product creations and hopefully running my business full-time and fully supporting myself through my business. I hope to continue creating and sharing my dream and products.
What is the next product you are looking to create? I would love to create body butters and skincare in the future. Skincare has been something important in my life and I would love to create a wonderful vegan skincare line! Hopefully in the next few years!
What does being a Maker mean to you? Creating meaningful products that bring joy to others inspires me to continue. I love receiving feedback from others to better myself and my business! I enjoy creating products that make others feel great and that they will enjoy :)
How have you developed your skills? I’ve developed and learned so much since first starting my business! I have done a few pop-up events and learned so much through other businesses that helped me grow! Through launching different products, I learned what works for me and what I need to change/do better. It’s a really great learning experience.
How has the pandemic impacted your creativity? Some days are tough for sure. I try to balance and use my time to create content and products. I try to not let the pandemic bring me down or affect me. I’m very lucky to have a good support system to keep me going.
What is your favorite thing you've created and why? My favorite product is my strawberry rose lipgloss “Enchanted”! It has real rose petals and is such a hydrated and comforting lipgloss! It smells absolutely divine and I feel so good when I wear it :)
Tell us about your first sale When I launched, I was so excited! I watched my shop have many visitors and watched the carts fill. It was surreal! I didn’t think people would care what my store had to offer but I was wrong and couldn’t believe the support I received. I was proud of myself for not giving up!
What is your dream project? My dream project is to do a collab with other artists and create either a makeup palette or a special bundle! I think that would be so fun!
Describe your creative process My creative process takes a lot of planning! I brainstorm ideas and look at my other products to see the flow and aesthetic. I take my time making decisions and finalizing.
Describe your latest project Currently, I am working on a Valentine’s Day bundle that will consist of two lipglosses that represent the occasion! Either as a gift for a loved one or to simply treat yourself! :)
How do you know when you've finished a project? The feeling needs to sit right! I can feel it inside if something i create is not perfect or reflects my vision.
What are your long-term goals? Hopefully, make my small business a full-time job! I would also love to expand further and create more skincare products in the future.
What inspires you? My husband inspires me every day. He is my biggest supporter and many of my ideas come from his moods! I wanted to reflect both our feelings, likes, and desires into my products as well as nature and the beauty that surrounds it.
What initially drew you to your craft? My love for makeup has always been a passion! I knew from a young age I wanted to do something related to makeup. It was during the first wave of Covid that I couldn’t buy any makeup because everything was closed and i decided then and there to create the perfect lipgloss for myself that I would not find in stores.
Why are humans creative? I think we are creative because of our experiences in the world. We strive for new creative ideas as an extension of ourselves.
